About Lillian

Lillian PiersonMy name is Lillian Pierson. This is my portfolio website and digital home on the worldwide web. I am an engineering consultant and I specialize in environmental engineering, data analytics, and advanced spatial data analysis. I am currently working for Orange County Government, where I am working with a team to launch a county-wide decision-support data analytics dashboard program.  I am also developing county-wide spatial models, reporting systems, and analytics dashboards for “one-click” discovery of prime economic development parcels.

Beyond this, through my brand, Big Data Gal, I offer data services, journalism, and spokesperson coverage of topics that revolve around data, technology, and applied statistics. I am a digital humanitarian. I founded The Freedom Co-op, an NGO through which I offer services for development and humanitarian initiatives. Academically, I was a chemistry scholar at the University of Texas, before moving on to The University of Central Florida in 2006 to earn my B.S. in Environmental Engineering. In 2007, I passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and I plan to sit for my Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in October, 2013.

Lastly, I am  a world traveler and travel blogger. I currently reside in Orlando, Florida. I was born here, but I was raised in Irvine, California and Austin, Texas. I have been a solo traveler since the age of 6. Then I traveled only between the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, but now I travel the world. I love to travel alone in the developing world. I love the cultures, the people, the religions, the music, the freedom – most of all, I love the freedom I feel when I travel the world alone. I have been to 20+ countries so far. I wrote the book Renegade World Travel to teach the ordinary person (like you or I) how to turn his or her life into an endless world-tour adventure.

For questions, comments or inquiries, please email me at Lillian@LillianPierson.com. I am very friendly, so don’t be shy about saying hello!
